Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society’s magazine <em>American Scientist</em> recently garnered more recognition as a leader in the publishing industry. The magazine was honored with two Silver Awards at the 35th Annual EXCEL Awards Gala held June 15 in Washington, D.C.

We had such a great time at the 2014 Sigma Xi Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference that we’ve moved up our 2015 meeting dates so we can see you sooner! This year's Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference will be held October 22-25 in Kansas City, Missouri.

<em>American Scientist</em> built on its reputation as a high-quality magazine in this year’s APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. The magazine of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society collected two Awards of Excellence in the international communications contest.

More than 20 Sigma Xi members volunteered to review 286 team projects May 12-13 to find the best demonstrations of interdisciplinary research and team science at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Sigma Xi’s 2015 national Young Investigator Award will be given to Dr. Melissa A. Kenney of the University of Maryland. Dr. Kenney's research broadly addresses how to integrate both uncertain scientific knowledge and societal values into decision-making.

The Sigma Xi Eckerd College Chapter inducted 10 new members on April 23. Seven out of the 10 are women.

The Sigma Xi George Mason University and District of Columbia chapters are sponsoring the 2015 Sigma Xi Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting. It will be held May 2 at the GMU campus in Fairfax, Virginia.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society has once again become a pillar of support for the next generation of researchers by awarding grants to young scientists. In the spring 2015 cycle of its Grants-in-Aid of Research program, the Society selected 185 undergraduate and graduate students to receive a total of $135,999.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society has joined forces with the Institute on Science for Global Policy to bring two unique events about food security to college campuses in April. The conferences, which were organized in conjunction with the colleges’ students and faculty, are open to the public.

Get ready to visit the City of Fountains! Sigma Xi will host its 2015 Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Members and students will convene October 22–25 at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center.

Approximately 150 people gathered at the University of Chicago on February 21 to honor the life of a medical and research pioneer, Dr. Julian H. Lewis. Lewis was Sigma Xi’s first African American member. He was inducted into the Society in 1913 by the University of Chicago Chapter.

Last fall, Sigma Xi opened The Lab: Members to Members, a new online community for active members. Now we want our members' input to develop it into a valuable place to make research connections, share ideas, and learn.

Over the past week, young scientists met and talked online with more experienced researchers to get feedback about their research projects. They came together for Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society’s Student Research Showcase.

A new chapter in the history of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society began today as its leaders announced the sale of the building that serves as its international headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society is accepting applications through 12 a.m. on March 15, 2015, to its Grants-in-Aid of Research program. The program awards research grants to undergraduate and graduate students in all areas of science and engineering.
