Organization
Sigma Xi is governed by volunteer officers, a Board of Directors and an Assembly of Delegates made up of chapter and Membership at Large representatives.
Leadership positions are filled through nominations made by Sigma Xi members and who are elected for three-year terms following the Society's annual meeting.
Standing Committees are comprised of key groups of officers and members. Committee members are appointed by the president of the Society with the consent of the president-elect and chair of the committee.
Except for the Committees on Nominations and Audit Review (whose terms coincide with the Society's annual meeting), all committee terms run from July 1 until June 30. From time to time the Board of Directors establishes ad hoc committees for special purposes.
Sigma Xi is a member of the Honor Society Caucus, a consortium of the most prestigious honor societies in the country, who recognize excellence of performance in academics, science, research, and leadership, and celebrates accomplishments and the character of integrity.
