RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society announces that its 2021 Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference will change from a hybrid format to an all-virtual format. Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and the surge in new cases due to the Delta variant, the in-person component of the conference, previously scheduled to take place in Niagara Falls, New York, will now be held as a 100% online event.
The meeting dates will remain November 4–7, 2021 and registration rates will be adjusted to reflect an online-only event. Those who have already registered for the in-person conference will receive a partial refund.
This marks the second consecutive year the meeting will be held virtually, following a highly successful interactive event in 2020. With the opportunity to offer a dynamic online experience to attendees from across the globe, the virtual conference is certain to be a can't-miss event for scientists, engineers, students, chapter delegates, artists, friends, and supporters of science worldwide.
The conference theme, Roots to Fruits: Responsible Research for a Flourishing Humanity, will address scientific integrity and its impact on society. Attendees will have unique opportunities to network and interact with professionals, peers, higher education institutions, and exhibitors in the immersive virtual environment. Highlights will include:
- Keynote sessions, presentations, panels, and workshops with world-renowned scientists, engineers, ethicists, and science communicators
- Presentations by 2021 Sigma Xi Awards winners
