BURLINGAME, CA― Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society invites science and engineering students in high school through graduate school from around the world to its annual Student Research Conference October 26–28, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport in Burlingame, California.
Students are invited to showcase their research in a poster presentation competition for prizes. All presenting students receive nominations for election to Sigma Xi and have the chance to earn awards. Speakers during the conference will address big data in research, science communication, ethical conduct of research, grant writing, how to thrive in a research career, and interdisciplinary professional development. The conference also includes the chance to attend Science Cafes, which are informal science presentations, and hear lectures by Sigma Xi’s 2018 award winners.
The conference is held in conjunction with Sigma Xi’s Annual Meeting, which gathers Sigma Xi’s distinguished members and the general public so that students have the opportunity to network and talk with professional researchers, peers, and other science enthusiasts in person.
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, all students or faculty from Hispanic-serving institutions receive a 50 percent registration discount through October 15. A group rate is also available upon request.
