Maung Htoo
Vassar Institute
For distinguished accomplishments; salient membership, energy, and insight; and promotion of STEM education at all levels, including the broader scientific community in Dutchess County, NY.
Quote
"The Vassar College chapter of Sigma Xi is unique in that it has members of both academia and industry. As a result, I was able to join the chapter when I started working for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1961. It made it possible for me to revitalize the chapter in 1997 and serve as the Secretary/Treasurer since then. It also allowed me to recruit judges from academia and industry for the Dutchess County Regional Science Fair to encourage students to pursue STEM careers."
