Biography
Dr. Gadi V.P. Reddy is currently a Research Leader for the United States Department of Agriculture/Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS)–Southern Insect Management Research Unit in Stoneville, Mississippi. He formerly worked as a full professor and Head of the Entomology/Ecology unit, associate professor of Entomology/Ecology, and superintendent at Montana State University from 2012-2019. Prior to that he was an assistant and associate professor of Chemical Ecology at the University of Guam from 2002-2012. He has about 30 years of teaching, research, outreach, and administrative experiences. Dr. Reddy also has a high level of research expertise in a variety of pest management programs including biological control, chemical ecology, pest monitoring, and plant-insect interactions. His research achievements, which include 260 publications in international journals and book chapters, are a testimony to his high caliber research, productivity, and expertise. Dr. Reddy has an international reputation for work performed in England, India, Ethiopia/UNDP, Germany, Spain, Finland, Austria, and the US.
Dr. Reddy also serves as editor for several international journals. He has also completed the Leadership for the 21st Century Program (USDA-NIFA program) at the University of Georgia Fanning Institute (class of X, 2014-2015) and graduate of 2021 Cohort of the American University Senior Executive Service (SES) Key Leadership Program. He was a recipient of several awards, including the President’s Volunteer Service Award by The Corporation for National and Community Service, Washington DC, and a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London.
Dr. Reddy’s service to Sigma Xi is remarkable. Throughout his career, he has encouraged students to present their research at conferences organized by Sigma Xi and publish their work in Sigma Xi’s journal. Several students that presented at these conferences also won awards, and one student had her research published in the Sigma Xi journal (Chronicle of the New Researcher). Dr. Reddy has also served as a judge for student research presentations at Sigma Xi conferences. Further, he has sponsored several scientists for Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society full membership and students for associate memberships.
Dr. Reddy is an exceptional scientist and has been continuously carrying out distinguished services to Sigma Xi, and is most deserving of the Sigma Xi Fellow designation.
