2019 SYMPOSIA TRACKS
Hear from researchers who are on the front line of addressing the global changing environment. Participants may also choose to attend sessions that support scientists, engineers, and students. Registration includes access to all of the following tracks.
Symposia on Our Changing Global Environment
Water Track: featuring sessions on emerging research and solutions in water science and technology, including global water resources, quality, management, and analysis
Energy Track: featuring sessions that examine emerging energy research and innovations, including conservation, sustainability, renewable energy, alternative energy technologies, and assessment
Life and Health Track: including sessions that address how life will be affected by environmental changes and how we can respond.
Symposia Related to Sigma Xi’s Mission
Science Communications Track: including sessions on the science of science communication, engaging, and educating the public on environmental issues
Research Ethics Track: featuring sessions on ethical challenges that are facing the research community and the ethics of communicating about environmental changes
Professional Development Track: including sessions on career advancement and general challenges facing the research community such as research funding, cultivating effective interdisciplinary collaborations, leadership training, publishing, and diversity.
Chapter Development Track: for Sigma Xi chapter officers to learn how to manage succession planning, finances, and officer roles. A chapter showcase will spotlight the programs held by chapters so you can learn new ideas for your chapter. See the Chapter Development Track flyer.
Call for Submissions
All researchers, engineers, technologists, ethicists, and science communicators were welcome to submit a proposal to lead a session or symposia at the meeting that fits within the first six tracks. The deadline for submissions was February 15, 2019. Learn more.
