Statement
I am honored to nominate myself for the position on Sigma Xi’s Nominations Committee for the Membership-at-Large Constituency. With a strong background in medical and cancer research, I am deeply committed to advancing the global scientific community through collaboration, leadership, and an unwavering dedication to research excellence.
My current role as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Oncology at the Miami Cancer Institute, Baptist Health South Florida, has immersed me in both primary and secondary research focused on clinical outcomes, particularly in oncology. Under the leadership of Dr. Manmeet Ahluwalia, I support oncology clinical trials, gaining hands-on experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and in designing patient-centered studies aimed at improving cancer treatments. Beyond clinical research, I am also an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Medical Research, published by BMC (part of Springer Nature). This editorial role allows me to contribute to the integrity and rigor of peer-reviewed research, ensuring that impactful studies reach a global audience. My extensive publishing record, with over 140 peer-reviewed articles in fields such as oncology, global health, and healthcare disparities, has shaped my understanding of the social and ethical responsibilities within science. These experiences have honed my perspective on the importance of fostering diverse voices in research, elevating standards in scientific publishing, and promoting multidisciplinary collaboration.
At a time when science is called upon to address complex challenges like climate change and global health crises, I believe that Sigma Xi must champion leaders who bring adaptability, resilience, and forward-thinking vision to its mission. If elected, I will work diligently to ensure that the nominees reflect these qualities and uphold the values of integrity, inclusiveness, and progress. I am excited by the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Sigma Xi, drawing from my diverse research experiences and my commitment to advancing science that transcends borders and benefits society as a whole.
Thank you for considering my nomination. It would be an honor to serve Sigma Xi in this role and to work alongside others equally dedicated to promoting excellence, collaboration, and ethical scientific inquiry worldwide.
