Statement

Kristen Mitchell It would be my privilege to serve as the Associate Director of the Sigma Xi Northwest Region. I joined Sigma Xi as a new faculty member in 2008 and have reached a point in my career where I would like to become more involved. I would like to identify elements that distinguish highly active chapters from less active chapters, in order to increase the presence of Sigma Xi at my university and across the Northwest.  I am particularly committed to increasing the involvement of undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral scientists in the Society.  I believe I am well positioned to advance this mission, based on my experience leading similar initiatives within the Society of Toxicology and AAAS Pacific Division.  Finally, I will strive to promote the creation and implementation of new ideas and programs within the regional chapters to enhance the value of Sigma Xi membership for scientists across the Northwest. I look forward to meeting the talented scientists who already enjoy membership in Sigma Xi and increasing the involvement of the next generation of scientists in the Society.
