Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society hosted a public Google Hangout on February 27 featuring Joe Hanson. He gave a presentation on using videos, Tumblr, and other social media to share science. A recording of the hangout is available.

The University of Chicago will host a special Black History Month event to honor Dr. Julian Herman Lewis. In 1913, Lewis became the first African American to be inducted to Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society recognized 24 high school, undergraduate, and graduate students November 8 for their Superior research poster presentations in the Society's 2014 International Research Conference.

Active and life members of Sigma Xi are eligible to cast their votes in the 2014 Elections. The voting period opens November 10 and closes at 5 p.m. Eastern on December 9, 2014.

Sigma Xi’s new online community, The Lab: Members to Members, is giving members the opportunity to interact like never before. It is their own space to have discussions about science and engineering as well as job opportunities and other useful topics.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society invited the public to participate in a Google Hangout August 28 with Michael Stevens. Stevens is the creator and host of Vsauce, a YouTube channel that generates interest and enthusiasm for learning.

Sigma Xi has launched a Communities feature on its redesigned website. In Communities, members will be able to share discussions and resources online.

Jerry Baker, who served as Sigma Xi's executive director and chief executive officer —as well as publisher of American Scientist—from 2008 through July 31, 2014, reflects over his time with the Society.
