nicholas_donofrioRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC— Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society is proud to announce that renowned scientist and engineer Nicholas Donofrio will be named a 2024 fellow. The long-time executive vice president at IBM will be recognized for his innovation and career accomplishments at the Society’s annual conference, the International Forum on Research Excellence (IFoRE), this November in Washington, DC.

The fellow of Sigma Xi distinction is awarded for distinguished service to the Society and outstanding contributions to the scientific enterprise. Each year, a cohort of fellows is awarded on a competitive basis to members who have been recognized by their peers. The fellows represent Sigma Xi’s distinguished history of acknowledging scientific research excellence with the purpose of supporting "companions in zealous research."

Donofrio holds seven technology patents, is a member of numerous technical and science honor societies, and holds several board positions. For over four decades, he held leadership positions at IBM, including Executive Vice President, Innovation and Technology, through  many of the tech giant’s most influential and groundbreaking eras. Throughout his career, he has been sharply focused on advancing education, employment, and career opportunities for underrepresented minorities and women in STEM disciplines.

The 2024 cohort of Sigma Xi fellows will be announced later this month and honored at the 2024 IFoRE conference, where many will present featured sessions.
