Research Triangle Park, North Carolina —Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society's new journal, Chronicle of The New Researcher, is now accepting manuscripts at www.ctnr.org.
Sigma Xi created Chronicle of The New Researcher expressly for the purpose of publishing an online, open access journal that allows outstanding pre-collegiate students in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) areas to showcase their research. The first manuscript will be published soon.
Sigma Xi is a non-profit membership society, 501(c)3, founded in 1886 to honor scientific achievement, foster ethical research, and promote science education and the public appreciation of science.
The journal will publish outstanding, original research produced primarily by secondary school (i.e. high school) students. The research will be published at no cost to the students or their schools.
Chronicle of The New Researcher intends to sustain a balance between the high standards of scientific rigor expected of a prestigious accomplishment and the recognition that our authors are students with limited experience and may be taking their first steps on a path leading to careers in science and engineering. In this regard, Chronicle of The New Researcher differs sharply from professional journals, in which case consideration is not made for the author's level of career development or working circumstances.
Chronicle of The New Researcher will assess the merits of submitted work by various means such as review by independent professional scientists, advice of scientific advisors, success in recognized competitions for high school students, priority for publication within the resources of Chronicle of The New Researcher, etc.
