Dear Members of Sigma Xi:

The Membership-at-Large Constituency will be electing an Associate Director. This will be a new position in the leadership of the Society.

Therefore, a nomination committee is seeking qualified candidates willing to stand for election and serve. If you are interested in having your name placed on the ballot please respond to Jerry Baker, Executive Director, (ExecutiveOffice@sigmaxi.org) by the nomination deadline of May 16, 2014. Your email should include a brief statement about your experience with Sigma Xi, a short CV and your vision for Membership-at-Large.

The nominations received prior to the deadline will be reviewed by a committee that will select two candidates to place on the ballot. Prior to June 1, 2014 you will receive information about the candidates and will have an opportunity to help select the Associate Director. The voting period will last 30 days beginning June 1, 2014 until June 30, 2014. Please look for an email from Sigma Xi with instructions and a link to the ballot and participate in the selection of this representative.

The term will begin immediately at the conclusion of the election and will run through June 30, 2016.

Duties: Associate Directors assist the Directors of their region or constituency group with responsibilities that are defined differently for each region or constituency group. When requested by the Director, the Associate Director may attend; without a vote but all other rights to participate, a meeting of the Board of Directors in place of the Director. Also, Associate Directors may be requested to conduct meetings of their region or constituency group at Sigma Xi's annual meeting each November in the absence of the Director.
