Amy Stockert
Dr. Amy Stockert is an associate professor of biochemistry at the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Purdue University in 1999, after which she moved to The Ohio State University to complete both a master’s of science and a doctorate in biochemistry (2004). While at The Ohio State University, Dr. Stockert worked under Dr. Russ Hille, studying the enzyme mechanism of xanthine oxidase. She completed her post-doctoral studies at Ohio State, as well, with Dr. Irina Artsimovitch.
Throughout her graduate career, she maintained a goal to teach as well as to pursue research. In 2005, Dr. Stockert accepted a position as a visiting assistant professor at Ohio Northern University in the Department of Biological and Allied Health. One year later, she accepted a tenure track position in the College of Pharmacy.
She has participated in several local chapters from science and professional organizations and served in leadership roles within Sigma Xi and American Chemical Society. Dr. Stockert’s current research projects include antibiotic design, nutritional supplementation for improving efficacy of some chemotherapeutic agents, and the mechanism of blood glucose decrease via cinnamon.
