2023 SIGMA XI ELECTION RESULTS
Members of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society elected their peers to leadership roles in an online election held November 13–26, 2023. Sigma Xi thanks all members who voted or volunteered to run as candidates.
Daniel I. Rubenstein won the presidential election. On July 1, 2024, he will begin a three-year term that will consist of one year each as president-elect, president, and immediate past-president. Dr. Rubenstein, a behavioral ecologist, was a former director of Sigma Xi’s Mid-Atlantic Region and past president of the Princeton chapter. He has also served as president of the Animal Behavior Society (ABS), chair of the Rangeland Section of the Ecological Society of America (ESA), and now serves on both the councils of the ESA and AAAS, where his teams examine ways to create alternatives towards STEM careers for secondary students as well as undergrads and graduate students in academia. In addition to publishing many highly cited research papers, he is also invested in being a stimulating teacher, as highlighted by his mid-career awarding of Princeton University’s Presidential Award for Distinguished Teaching.
All newly elected leaders are listed below with their Sigma Xi chapter affiliations. President, treasurer, directors, and associate directors will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2024. Committee on Nominations representatives began three-year terms immediately following the election.
